Celebrating Diversity in Culture

Pictured Left to Right: Legislators Williams- Johnson D-8, Williams D-16, Holstein D-10, Governor Kathy Hochul, Barr D-6, Pierce D-2, Ulaj  D-9 I was fortunate this week to visit my sister in Hawaii to participate in my nephew's Bar Mitzvah ceremony. Upon my return, I had the honor and pleasure to attend the NYS Association of Counties conference where I was able to interact with other county officials, attend sessions to learn about upcoming trends, ideas, and priorities, and together with a group of my colleagues, represent Westchester with Governor Hochul at her mansion. While I was on the road, New Rochelle hosted a beautiful Flag Raising Ceremony where the African American community and Jewish community came together to celebrate together in unity as the Israeli Flag was exchanged with the Pan-African flag closing Black ...

An important message about unity from your County Legislator

After my last newsletter, some constituents asked why I did not explicitly label the Golden Horseshoe incident as antisemitic. My intention was not to minimize anyone's pain or fear. Quite the opposite - my words and actions should leave no doubt about my own similar feelings surrounding this incident and antisemitism in general. District 10 Update: February 2, 2024

I was incredibly honored to attend several recent events in our district celebrating the remarkable human rights contributions of district notables. At ECAP's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast, we recognized dedicated volunteers from the Asbury Crestwood Methodist Church and native Tuckahoe athlete Maxwell Pearce, whose artwork was unveiled at the Westchester County Center. The NAACP Jubilee celebration honored Reverend Tamara Kabamba, who also works tirelessly for our students in the Eastchester School District. And on Monday, Westchester County will celebrate Black History Month by recognizing another community champion, Linda Tarrant-Reid, whose dedication to New Rochelle, including spearheading the amazing Juneteenth celebration, is an inspiration to us all. This past week was also marked by a disturbing hate incident at the Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center. This act of intolerance has no place in our community, and it deeply saddened me. Yet, amidst the ne...
