District 10 Update: March 28, 2024

While Saturday's flooding wasn't as severe as what we faced last September, it brought significant challenges to areas like Primrose Rd in New Rochelle, highlighting ongoing issues with flooding in our district. Only a few seconds of my interview were  aired on News 12 , so I wanted to share some additional details. Through collaboration with State. County, and local authorities, together with funds from the Infrastructure Bill and Environmental Bond Act, we are moving the needle on addressing our flooding problems as quickly as possible. Crews from New Rochelle, Eastchester, and Scarsdale already started clearing debris from area storm drains, culverts, and streams. New Rochelle recently outlined their 10 year  Stormwater Mitigation Plan  addressing over 170 specific areas, and more recently outlined specific areas (including Grand Blvd) where work will start this spring in the Public Works section of the City Manager's  2024 Work Plan . District 10 Update: March 15, 2024

Fortunately, a little rain and hail didn't damper the St. Patrick's Day Parade organized by the Eastchester Irish American Social Club.  Special congratulations go to John Fix, a longtime friend and dedicated community member, who served as Grand Marshal. We also recognize the achievements of women during March. I was particularly interested to learn about Tamron Hall's new book showcased at the very well-attended Women's Herstory Celebration at Westchester County Center. Westchester and District 10 boast a vibrant arts scene, further enriched by ArtsWestchester, the largest private, non-profit arts council in New York. Their recent Challenge Reception provided an excellent opportunity to connect with local groups. Among those present were the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, who champion the exploration and presentation of performing and fine arts, and So...
