District 10 Update: August 29, 2024

Dear Friends and Neighbors,  This past weekend, I brought my youngest son back to SUNY Stony Brook University to begin his sophomore year. Like many parents, I felt the bittersweet mix of love and pride as he left the nest to venture into adulthood. This year, however, I found myself reflecting on the end of his last semester. While our son was fortunate enough not to be significantly impacted by the small but loud protests that took place at his school, some parents were not so lucky, as college students from District 10, Westchester County, and around the world were harassed, intimidated, or blocked from accessing their dorms, classrooms, and other school buildings due to disruptive actions by protestors. I deeply cherish our Constitutional First Amendment and the rights it provides for people to peacefully assemble and protest. However, it is crucial that protesters behave lawfully and not assault others (including verbal assault directed at an individual), vandalize ...

District 10 Update: August 23, 2024

This week, I was honored to represent Westchester County and New Rochelle alongside friends and colleagues as we celebrated the 200th anniversary of General Lafayette's farewell tour. Lafayette, a French aristocrat and military officer, played a pivotal role in the American Revolutionary War, fighting alongside our forefathers to secure our nation's independence. Remarkably, just 15 years prior to the revolution, France and the American Colonies, which would later become the United States, had been on opposing sides during the French and Indian War. Yet, despite this history of conflict, we found common cause and united for a greater purpose. I was also privileged to attend the 48th Annual Westchester Jewish Music & Arts Festival at Kensico Dam, a vibrant celebration of our community's rich cultural her...

District 10 Update: August 16, 2025

As a former school board member and PTA President, I know how stressful school supply shopping can be for parents, even those of means. This week, I visited several organizations from our area that help bring some peace to families who struggle to afford the supplies their children need each year. Thank you to the Sharing Shelf, Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle and Hope Community Services for all you do to support our families and children! You are true heroes! See more below.    The Westchester County Hispanic Advisory Board and Pace University have announced a groundbreaking new survey targeting the Latino community within Westchester County. The survey aims to gather crucial insights and data on education, healthcare, employment, housing, and social services. If you are of Hispanic descent I urge you to complete this important  survey by the deadline which is August 26th. ...

District 10 Update: August 7, 2024

Earlier this week, I was fortunate to spend some time with the County's Department of Public Works staff to review some of the fine work they do throughout Westchester and District 10. As I entered the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner was on the phone discussing preparations for this week's expected rain in light of Tropical Storm Debby. I recently connected the County's new Director of Flood Mitigation and Resiliency with our local officials to begin exploring funding opportunities for long-term flood mitigation solutions. But all signs seem to point to the likelihood that the weather will bring some flooding, starting midweek and likely culminating on Friday or Saturday, and people should start preparing for this if they haven't already. The county's Severe Weather page on Storms and Flooding can offer some guidance on how to prepare and what to do if you are effected by storms and flooding. You may also want to check out the Important Phone Numbers a...
