District 10 Update: November 22, 2024

This past week, as a member of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, I have been meeting with all county departments as they present their accomplishments for the past year, goals for the next year, and budgetary needs for 2025. These meetings provide an invaluable opportunity to learn more about the incredible work and services each department and our amazing staff provide, while also assessing how we can improve services for our constituents. I want to share a sobering insight from this week's presentations. During her update, our District Attorney shared statistics on hate crime investigations. I was saddened, though not entirely surprised, to learn that the number of antisemitic hate crime investigations in Westchester doubled in 2024. Alarmingly, antisemitic incidents outnumber those in the next highest category of hate crimes by a ratio of 7 to 1. I was reminded of this sense of unity when I had the honor of celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights, at the...

District 10 Update: November 1, 2024

As NY baseball fans recently watched our stars make plays and errors, we're all hoping to see our political stars prevail on Election Day on Tuesday. With early voting already underway, now's the time to make sure we're informed. Voting requires knowing the details. Don't rely on TV ads or social media alone — take time to research each proposal and candidate to make choices that reflect your priorities. If you have questions on how to do the research, reach out to friends, neighbors, or others you trust to find good sources of balanced information. And remember to flip your ballot for proposals on the back. You can vote early at any of the 25 Westchester sites today until 4 p.m., and tomorrow and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Find your nearest site at Westchester Early Voting 2024 , or vote at your regular polling place on Tuesday.
