District 10 Update: April 25, 2025

This past week was a vivid reminder of how closely joy and sorrow can live side by side. The final days of Passover and the Easter holiday brought a chance to step back and spend meaningful time with family. Those moments are a true gift. Shortly after returning home, I learned of the passing of two beloved family members. Each lived a meaningful life, and while I'm grateful for the time we shared, the sadness runs deep. I returned from one of the funerals to join my colleagues on the Board and hear County Executive Ken Jenkins deliver his first State of the County address. His message offered a thoughtful vision for Westchester's future, grounded in shared purpose and collaboration. I wrapped up the week observing Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. I listened to survivor Arlette Baker share her story, a moving reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the importanc...

District 10 Update: April 11, 2025

This past week, I had the opportunity to speak out on behalf of our community in two critical forums. At the Hands Off rally in Mamaroneck, I joined neighbors and local leaders to defend the foundations of our democracy. I spoke about how elections are won with unity. When we come together around shared values, when we speak up and show up, we push back against fear and division. Democracy only works when people stay engaged, and our collective voice is even more powerful than campaign checks—as was demonstrated last week in Wisconsin. Later in the week, at the Con Edison rate case hearing, I urged the Public Service Commission to reject Con Ed's request for a rate hike. In the face of billion-dollar profits flowing into shareholders' pockets, I asked them to stand with the public instead—to demand transparency, fairness, and accountability. Ratepayers in Westchester dese...

District 10 Update: April 4, 2025

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Leewood Park, and what a beautiful new space it is for our community. With its incredible mix of green space, sports facilities, and a vibrant playground, it's already a gem for Eastchester. Congratulations to the Town of Eastchester on this outstanding achievement, made possible with support from SPORTIME and a New York State grant, thanks to Senator Shelley Mayer. It's always inspiring to see community leaders, regardless of party lines, come together to support projects that bring people together and enhance our quality of life. That same spirit of collaboration was on display when I partnered with my colleague James Nolan to secure $17,000 in funding to support training efforts for Eastchester's Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Delivering a check to these everyday superheroes was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we focus on shared values and meaningful out...
