Dear Friends and Neighbors, This week showcased the strength of education in our community. The New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence held its annual gala, celebrating four outstanding New Rochelle High School seniors for their achievements, and honoring three extraordinary adults whose contributions have made a profound impact. I also had the pleasure of presenting a Certificate of Merit to a New Rochelle student who was named a Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar for her project, "Music to My Eyes," which studies Synesthesia, a neurological condition that causes people to experience two or more senses simultaneously (in this case, hearing music and seeing colors). You can read more about that event below. At a time when the future of the Department of Education may be uncertain, I'm proud of the accomplishments of our District 10 students. Additionally, our Board received briefings on the current situation regarding immigration enforcement in the area. If you or someone you know is concerned about potential impact, the best course of action is to learn about your rights. Neighbors Link has a helpful resource guide to get you started. For more news and updates on upcoming events, please see my weekly update below.
