District 10 Update: May 14, 2026

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We are being reminded that rights and protections can never be taken for granted.

Recently, we have seen protections that we assumed were part of our long, painful national march toward freedom and equality rolled back or weakened. Roe v. Wade, which stood for nearly fifty years, was overturned. The Voting Rights Act has been effectively undermined, reducing federal oversight that  protected against discriminatory election practices for decades.

Rolling back other hard-earned rights is being openly discussed, including contraception, same-sex marriage, birthright citizenship, and the role of federal agencies in enforcing anti-discrimination laws.

The erosion of longstanding legal precedents, institutional norms, and constitutional guardrails is an attack on the rights of Americans – to have their vote count, make their own personal choices, and receive equal treatment under the law. We’ve learned not to take these rights for granted and must once again fight to secure them.

Westchester Expands Worker Protections

Passed by the Board of Legislators in partnership with organized labor, the laws support fair pay and skilled-trade career pathways across Westchester. Read the full press release.

Food Allergy Awareness Week

During Food Allergy Awareness Week, May 11 through May 15, Westchester County is highlighting the importance of food allergy awareness and emergency preparedness. The Board of Legislators has passed several measures in recent years to help protect residents: “Gio’s Law” requires County first responders to carry and be trained to use EpiPens, a life-saving tool for allergy emergencies. The Food Allergy Restaurant Safety Bill requires that restaurants have trained food allergy staff on-site and post signs listing major allergens and emergency steps. Learn more about food allergy safety and awareness.

District 10 Update: August 7, 2025

Please take a moment to submit your comments to the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) and ask them to reject Con Edison's proposed electric and gas rate increases. Share how these hikes would affect you and your family. Submit your comments using the links below: Electric rate case – Case 25-E-0072 Gas rate case – Case 25-G-0073 The Westchester County Board of Legislators continues to hear from residents about the impact of Con Edison's repeated and aggressive rate hikes. Last week, the Board held a public session in Rye Brook to hear directly from the community, and next week we will announce our next hearing in Mount Kisco. While we are committed to raising these concerns locally, the final decision rests with the PSC. So far, just over 6,000 comments have been submitted on the electric case and about 4,500 on the gas case. Most appear to come from New York City. Westche...

District 10 Update: March 13, 2026

Every so often, a small change can make a real difference in the daily lives of our residents. This week, while driving from my house onto the Bronx River Parkway through the Babe Ruth Tunnel at Leewood Drive, I noticed something different. The light timing had been adjusted so cars coming off the parkway can now clear the intersection properly. It's something many people in town have complained about over the years, myself included. I've lived in Eastchester a long time and remember when that intersection was just stop signs. Since it was converted to a traffic light, cars exiting the parkway would often get stuck at the light and block the tunnel, leaving drivers trying to enter the parkway waiting and frustrated. One of the first emails I sent after being elected was to our County DPW Commissioner asking that the timing be reviewed. The department made some adjustments along the way, but ...

District 10 Update: August 28, 2025

Dear Friends and Neighbors,  This week, I had the privilege of celebrating seniors at the Senior Dance and Senior Social, women at the Women's United annual luncheon, youth at the Eco Ambassadors graduation, and diversity at the Muslim American Heritage Celebration at Kensico. While at the celebration at Kensico, two young men approached me about the Magen David Adom pin I wear on my lapel, which features both the American and Israeli flags, and which I've worn consistently since October 7. They challenged me about why I wore it at the event and ultimately about US government support for Israel with taxpayer dollars. It was, without question, an uncomfortable conversation. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed. While we didn't agree on the history or politics of the Middle East, we ultimat...
