District 10 Update: May 8, 2026

This week I was proud to celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month by honoring the Westchester Jewish Council.

For 50 years, WJC has been bringing people together across synagogues, schools, and organizations, creating a unified voice that is stronger than any one institution alone.

They build relationships not just within the Jewish community, but across faiths and across communities, because they understand that real strength comes from unity, trust and standing together.

Across the county and around the world, antisemitism is becoming more visible, more normalized, and more dangerous. There have already been 15 antisemitic incidents reported in our county this year. Nearly one a week. That is more than three times the next highest category of hate crime.

That’s why I continue to advocate and partner with WJC. It's also why I proudly filled a Memo of Legislation on Monday’s Board Consent agenda to protect access to religious institutions with buffer zones.

Because addressing what we are seeing requires action, not just words.

On Monday, May 4, the Board of Legislators unanimously passed the Westchester County Lessor Prevailing Wage Act, guaranteeing construction workers on County-leased properties the same standard union wages they would earn on County-owned job sites. Read full press release.

Board Celebrates Jewish American Heritage Month

The Westchester County Board of Legislators celebrated Jewish American Heritage Month on Monday evening with a ceremony honoring two community leaders: Westchester Jewish Council, a nonprofit that serves the County’s more than 130,000 Jewish residents by connecting hundreds of affiliated organizations, and Suzi Oppenheimer, former State Senator, Mayor of Mamaroneck, and champion for education reform and environmental stewardship. More Good Days, Together: Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to support one another and recognize that mental well-being is essential to a strong, healthy community. This year’s theme, “More Good Days, Together,” reminds us that small moments of care, understanding, and connection can lead to better days. Westchester County continues to expand access to care, strengthen support systems, and reduce stigma so every resident feels supported. Access mental health services and resources on the County's Department of Community Mental Health site.

You can also call (914) 995-5220, Monday-Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, or email DCMH@westchestercountyny.gov for assistance.

District 10 Update: August 7, 2025

Please take a moment to submit your comments to the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) and ask them to reject Con Edison's proposed electric and gas rate increases. Share how these hikes would affect you and your family. Submit your comments using the links below: Electric rate case – Case 25-E-0072 Gas rate case – Case 25-G-0073 The Westchester County Board of Legislators continues to hear from residents about the impact of Con Edison's repeated and aggressive rate hikes. Last week, the Board held a public session in Rye Brook to hear directly from the community, and next week we will announce our next hearing in Mount Kisco. While we are committed to raising these concerns locally, the final decision rests with the PSC. So far, just over 6,000 comments have been submitted on the electric case and about 4,500 on the gas case. Most appear to come from New York City. Westche...

District 10 Update: March 13, 2026

Every so often, a small change can make a real difference in the daily lives of our residents. This week, while driving from my house onto the Bronx River Parkway through the Babe Ruth Tunnel at Leewood Drive, I noticed something different. The light timing had been adjusted so cars coming off the parkway can now clear the intersection properly. It's something many people in town have complained about over the years, myself included. I've lived in Eastchester a long time and remember when that intersection was just stop signs. Since it was converted to a traffic light, cars exiting the parkway would often get stuck at the light and block the tunnel, leaving drivers trying to enter the parkway waiting and frustrated. One of the first emails I sent after being elected was to our County DPW Commissioner asking that the timing be reviewed. The department made some adjustments along the way, but ...

District 10 Update: June 26, 2025

Click here to view this email in your browser  Last week, I joined a prayer vigil against hate in New Rochelle. Even in a city as diverse as New Rochelle moments like this remind us how much listening, respect, and mutual understanding still matter. We do not need to agree on everything, but we do need to care about how our words and actions affect those around us. Different communities carry different lived experiences. As an example, some turn to law enforcement any time they feel uneasy. Others hesitate because of long histories of profiling, discrimination, or being treated as outsiders. Language matters too. Words and slogans can carry pain, even if not intended. "The South will rise again" is recognized as a symbol of white supremacy and racial terror. Simila...
