District 10 Update: June 12, 2026




Dear Friends and Neighbors, 

This week, I had the honor of joining community members from across Westchester for a Pride flag raising ceremony.

I'll admit that, growing up, I was taught that humility was a virtue and that pride was a “sin”. But Pride Month isn't about arrogance. It's about being comfortable in your own skin and not feeling like you have to hide who you are.

As someone who is openly and proudly Jewish, I've come to appreciate how important it is for people to feel comfortable expressing their identity without fear or shame.

Whether it's our faith, our heritage, our culture, or who we love, every person deserves the freedom to live authentically and without fear. None of us should feel compelled to hide who we are simply because we're different or because we don't conform to what may be popular at a given moment.

That's why I was proud to stand alongside my friends and neighbors celebrating Pride Month. Our differences do not diminish us; they strengthen our communities. Each of us is unique. Each of us has value. And each of us deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and acceptance

Join Us for the Next Board of Legislators Meeting

Please join us on Monday, June 15, before a regular board meeting, for our annual celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month, streaming live from the BOL Chamber at 7 PM.  We are honored to recognize two outstanding community leaders: Lyndon Williams, distinguished jurist, civic leader, and champion for youth opportunity, and Rupert “Ted” Bitter, Vietnam veteran, inspiring coach-leader, and Peekskill business owner.

At the regular board meeting, one public hearing will be held to consider a local law repealing the authorization for the County Attorney to present criminal proceedings related to violations of probation in the criminal courts in conjunction with the Department of Probation.

Board Welcomes 2026 Class of Herman S. Geist Summer Fellows

The Board of Legislators has welcomed its second class of students to the Herman S. Geist Fellowship Program, a paid summer internship that gives high school and college students firsthand experience in county government and public service. Read the full press release.

Early Voting Begins June 13 for the 2026 Primary Election

Want to avoid lines on Primary Election Day? Early voting for the 2026 Primary Election begins Saturday, June 13, and continues through June 21. June 13 is also the last day to register to vote and the deadline to request an absentee or early mail ballot. Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 23. Find early voting locations, schedules, and additional election information on the Westchester County Board of Elections' Early Voting Information Page.

Pushing the Needle Forward: Fifth Birth Equity Town Hall

Every mother deserves to be heard, respected, protected, and supported. Join us Monday, June 15, from 2 to 5 PM at the Westchester County Center for the fifth Birth Equity Town Hall as we continue advancing respectful care, reviewing critical data, highlighting new initiatives, and strengthening partnerships to improve maternal and infant health outcomes across Westchester County. Register for this free town hall event.

Share how these hikes would affect you and your family. Submit your comments using the links below: Electric rate case – Case 25-E-0072 Gas rate case – Case 25-G-0073 The Westchester County Board of Legislators continues to hear from residents about the impact of Con Edison's repeated and aggressive rate hikes. Last week, the Board held a public session in Rye Brook to hear directly from the community, and next week we will announce our next hearing in Mount Kisco. While we are committed to raising these concerns locally, the final decision rests with the PSC. District 10 Update: March 13, 2026

Every so often, a small change can make a real difference in the daily lives of our residents. This week, while driving from my house onto the Bronx River Parkway through the Babe Ruth Tunnel at Leewood Drive, I noticed something different. The light timing had been adjusted so cars coming off the parkway can now clear the intersection properly. It's something many people in town have complained about over the years, myself included. I've lived in Eastchester a long time and remember when that intersection was just stop signs. Since it was converted to a traffic light, cars exiting the parkway would often get stuck at the light and block the tunnel, leaving drivers trying to enter the parkway waiting and frustrated. One of the first emails I sent after being elected was to our County DPW Commissioner asking that the timing be reviewed. The department made some adjustments along the way, but ...

Dear Friends and Neighbors,  This week, I had the privilege of celebrating seniors at the Senior Dance and Senior Social, women at the Women's United annual luncheon, youth at the Eco Ambassadors graduation, and diversity at the Muslim American Heritage Celebration at Kensico. While at the celebration at Kensico, two young men approached me about the Magen David Adom pin I wear on my lapel, which features both the American and Israeli flags, and which I've worn consistently since October 7. They challenged me about why I wore it at the event and ultimately about US government support for Israel with taxpayer dollars. It was, without question, an uncomfortable conversation.
