District 10 Update: June 5, 2026



Dear Friends and Neighbors, 
 As we prepare our children for a future shaped by technology, we must teach them not only how to use these powerful tools wisely and cautiously. The future will require technological literacy, but it will also require character, judgment, and responsibility.  I want to thank the Tuckahoe Police Department, the Eastchester Police Department, and the many agencies that responded through Westchester County's mutual aid system after large groups of teenagers disrupted the Immaculate Conception Fair in Tuckahoe this past weekend. Their professionalism and quick response helped keep our community safe. Families should be able to attend community events without fear of dangerous or disruptive behavior. The events at the fair were troubling. Some of the reaction afterward was, too. It was disappointing to see some people engage in racist rhetoric and stereotyping. That sort of response is not only disturbing, it’s wholly unacceptable The "teen takeover" trend is appearing in communities across the country and involves young people from all backgrounds. This is not a racial problem. It is a challenge of social media influence, peer pressure, technology, and accountability.

Technology is advancing at an incredible pace. Social media, AI, smartphones, and other tools create tremendous opportunities, but also challenges that previous generations of families never faced.

Being a teenager today is tough. Being a parent may be even tougher.

Board Passes Nation-Leading Bill Requiring Visual Gun Safety Warnings

On Monday, the Board of Legislators unanimously passed the Visual Gun Warning Law, requiring firearm retailers display images showing dangers associated with gun ownership, making Westchester the second in the nation to adopt such a measure.

Board Celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Also on Monday, the Board of Legislators celebrated LGBTQ+ Pride Month with a ceremony to honor Benjamin Ilany, a decorated Air Force veteran, LGBTQ+ service members advocate, and VFW post commander, and Croton Pride, a community organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ connection, advocacy, and celebration. Get Ready for the June Primary Election

The June 2026 Primary Election is approaching, and voters are encouraged to review important registration and voting deadlines now. 
  • Monday, June 8 is the last day to update your address for the Primary Election. 
  • Saturday, June 13 is the voter registration deadline and the final day to request an absentee or early mail ballot by mail or online. 
  • Early Voting runs from Saturday, June 13 through Sunday, June 21. 
  • Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 23. 
Voters should confirm their registration status, polling location, and ballot options with the Westchester County Board of Elections.

Youth Environmental Writing Contest for Westchester Students

Middle and high school students in grades 6–12 are invited to participate in the Hudson Valley Writers Center’s Youth Environmental Writing Contest. Submit an original short story or poem about a future environmental issue by Monday, June 15. Winners will be published and invited to a reading in Sleepy Hollow. Learn more about contest requirements and registration.

Westchester County Parks has a full calendar of activities, programs, and events for residents of all ages. Find opportunities to get outside, stay active, and enjoy the season by exploring the Westchester County Parks events calendar.

District 10 Update: March 13, 2026

Every so often, a small change can make a real difference in the daily lives of our residents. This week, while driving from my house onto the Bronx River Parkway through the Babe Ruth Tunnel at Leewood Drive, I noticed something different. The light timing had been adjusted so cars coming off the parkway can now clear the intersection properly. It's something many people in town have complained about over the years, myself included. I've lived in Eastchester a long time and remember when that intersection was just stop signs. Since it was converted to a traffic light, cars exiting the parkway would often get stuck at the light and block the tunnel, leaving drivers trying to enter the parkway waiting and frustrated. One of the first emails I sent after being elected was to our County DPW Commissioner asking that the timing be reviewed. The department made some adjustments along the way, but ...

Dear Friends and Neighbors,  This week, I had the privilege of celebrating seniors at the Senior Dance and Senior Social, women at the Women's United annual luncheon, youth at the Eco Ambassadors graduation, and diversity at the Muslim American Heritage Celebration at Kensico. While at the celebration at Kensico, two young men approached me about the Magen David Adom pin I wear on my lapel, which features both the American and Israeli flags, and which I've worn consistently since October 7. They challenged me about why I wore it at the event and ultimately about US government support for Israel with taxpayer dollars. It was, without question, an uncomfortable conversation.
